So...... where to begin. UPDATES:
1. Profession - Psych! Found out that our spiritual director can't make the Nov date for profession, so we're gonna have to do a different date later on. A little bit sad b/c that date would have worked for my family and now we can't have another hybrid thanksgiving :(! (Thanks-session or progiving). So my schedule is back up in the air and I have NO idea when this is going to take place. I really just want to have a date set, but the important thing is when God wants me to be professed. (Dear Lord, please let me just have a mark on a calendar!)
2. PSR - two words, epic fail! Well, it could have been worse. In the class there are 17 kids, there are supposed to be 3 of us (me, my co-teacher, and an aide). I knew going in that our aide would not be there, but I didn't count on so many things:
A). The early session class before us got out extremely late (I however, was early b/c I knew it would take a while to set up). I was the only one there, but apparently there are gads of things to get on the first day. All the books, folders, bags, name tag pages, teacher folder, bags, etc. So I grabbed a whole bunch of stuff and had no place to put it b/c the first session was running over.
B). By the time I got in there and started putting stuff out for the kids the other teachers from the last class said that they had 3 extra students and had to get extra stuff (their aide also being our aide - so they didn't have enough help either) and also mentioned that we would have to get our own crayons. I was told there would be crayons IN OUR BOX!!! I was like... dude I only got 17 items, it's like 5-10 minutes before the next class, I have no aide or co-teacher as of yet, I don't have enough items and no crayons.
C). When my co-teacher finally got there I was already running to get extra supplies, offering envelopes, and find out where to get me some crayons. As soon as we got some of the items, the kids started coming. I had yet to find me some crayons and the first thing that they were to do was a coloring activity so that way as they all came in they had something to do. So where are the crayons?????
D). Finally went to the supply cupboard, grabbed as many crayons as I could and ran back to the class. I felt like I couldn't interact with any of the kids to get to know their names or anything at first b/c I was just trying to get the supplies ready. By the time I actually got a chance, I had no way to introduce myself to them on an individual basis and things were still not together for any activities.
E). So class went ok, with a few kids looking bored, a few looking engaged, 1 who ended up crying and missing his mom, and I think 6 needing to go to the rest room (thank God there was a hall monitor!). We did however, mess up a craft b/c we ran out of time and had no extra help.
I am just frustrated b/c nothing was set up and I had planned on a couple minutes of set up time. UGH. I am so preparing a lesson plan that does not involve much prep work.
So I have come home exhausted, h-angry, and not in the best of moods. But oh well. Plans will be messed up.... and I will have to get over it. God's plans are better :).
Night!
That's disappointing about your profession date.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't worry -- I've had classes JUST like that for our PSR. It gets better, I promise!
