It's crazy late, but I just finished putting together some stuff for PSR tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement :)! I am still going to try my best this year and who knows, it may get better. I think I am frustrated b/c I wanted to do so much for kids at that age who are learning what it means to live the faith. I don't want them to think that all it means to be Catholic is some dry writing in a text book that they have to sit through. I think that's my main problem. Well, each week I am going to try my best to bring new ideas and since I'm the one who has been bringing stuff for the prayer corner it at least gives me a way to do some things.
For tomorrow night, we are talking about the Trinity and about Jesus being the greatest gift from the Father. Our text book suggested giving each of the kids a hand full of confetti to "celebrate". I decided that confetti is too messy for a classroom that we have to clean up later. So instead, I got a gift bag, cut out a red heart with the words "God's Greatest Gift", stuck a bow on it, and inside put a small nativity with another heart attached to it that says "Jesus" aka Himself. I cut out some smaller hearts and wrote down different gifts we've been given and put them in a heart shaped box. I'll have the kids volunteer to take out some paper hearts and we'll read them out. Then we'll open up the gift bag. I thought it was brilliant for an 11:00 at night idea. And I think I am going to have them do a 5 second wiggle time half way through the lesson.
So little by little I am trying to make it so we aren't just coloring with crayons and reading from the text the whole time. Pray for me! lol! welp, good night I have to get to bed so I can wake up for work!
I think that sounds like a great idea!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I really like the wiggle 1/2 way through the class. You might consider playing an upbeat Christian song for them to dance to sometime??? Could be fun.
That sounds great!
